Paul Preciado
PhD Student
Originally from La Paz, B.C.S, Paul studied Marine Biology at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur, developing his bachelor’s thesis on distribution of Mobula birostris in Revillagigedo National Park. He has worked as a guide SCUBA diver at several different organizations and helped with the monitoring of reef fish, elasmobranchs, invertebrates and coral and algae cover. Paul has a special interest in science outreach. In 2020 he concluded his master’s degree in Marine Resources Management at the Centro Interdisciplinario de Ciencias Marinas (CICIMAR), carrying out his research with Pelagios Kakunjá and Manta Pacífico about giant mantas in the Gulf of California. Paul is currently a PhD student at CICIMAR and Pelagios Kakunjá, where he is carrying out a project about the movement of giant mantas in the Mexican Pacific using acoustic telemetry, under the supervision of Dr. Felipe Galván and Dr. James Ketchum.
