Olaia Cacho

Master student

Olaia Cacho is from the Basque Country, graduated in Marine Sciences from the University of Palmas de Gran Canaria, and PADI Open Water Instructor. Since an early age she had a very special connection with the ocean, feeling passionate about the animals living in it, but especially about sharks. For this reason, she decided to work on marine research, particularly in conservation. During her student years, she had the opportunity to work on oceanographic campaigns and outreach and marine conservation programs. Currently, Olaia is studying a master’s degree at CICIMAR and Pelagios Kakunjá, with the objective to examine the abundance of sharks and the effect of recreational diving in the Revillagigedo Archipelago.
