Iliana Ortega Bacmeister

Conservation biologist who loves nature, with 15 years of experience working as a Naturalist for the ecotourism company Lindblad Expeditions traveling through the Gulf of California, Alaska, Costa Rica, Galapagos and Antarctica. She participated in the IMAX movie “Oasis Marino” about Baja California and the Sea of Cortez. She worked for the non-governmental organization Conservation International, and also for the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature. She lived in Cancún, Quintana Roo where she worked for the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas in charge of the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI). She participated in the documentary "Mar Vivo" about Cabo Pulmo, B.C.S., which was presented at the San Diego Museum of Natural History. Her most recent job was as director of the Conservation and Sustainable Use Program of the Carlos Slim Foundation for 7 years.
