Hugo Sánchez Gómez

Originally from Puebla de Zaragoza, since he was a kid Hugo has always showed a great passion and interest for the ocean and its sharks. This is why in 2012 he decided to study Marine Biology in La Paz, at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur. Over the years Hugo has had the opportunity to collaborate in different research projects locally, as well as in other places. He has worked as an intern in Baja California, Campeche and Costa Rica to learn more about ecology and biology of elasmobranchs. In 2019 volunteered at Pelagios Kakunjá and participated in several research projects. He finished his master’s thesis in 2022 at the Centro de Investigaciones Biológicas del Noroeste (CIBNOR), developing his research with Pelagios Kakunjá about the use of Baited Remote Underwater Video Systems (BRUVS) to study pelagic fish communities in the southern Gulf of California and the Revillagigedo Archipelago. He is currently working at Pelagios Kakunjá as data analyst and field technician.
