Giulia Boldrin

Alumni

Giulia loves the ocean since she was a child. She discovered this passion at the age of 4 when, for the first time, she got the amazing opportunity to swim with dolphins in Mexico. The water is her element since she was little and for this reason, in 2019 Giulia started diving and decided to enroll in the master’s program in Marine Science’s at the University of Milano-Bicocca. Then she joined Pelagios Kakunjá for an internship to develop her master’s thesis research project was focused on the Assessment of heavy metals and trace elements in Scalloped Hammerhead Shark (Sphyrna lewini) from an artisanal fish camp in the Bay of La Paz (BCS). During her time with Pelagios, she also got the opportunity to help the organization in monitoring the presence of whale sharks in the Bay of La Paz. She is deeply grateful for the time spent with Pelagios that helped her learn and grow as a marine biologist, and that made her even more conscious about her passion for sharks, in particular their ecology and ecotoxicology. She graduated in June 2022.
