Dr. Raúl Martínez

Researcher

Raul began his scientific career describing the spatial distribution and environmental preferences of the main species of large pelagics that are caught incidentally in the Eastern Pacific Ocean by tuna boats. He currently focuses on spatial-temporal models of marine and land species, using species distribution models. These tools have enabled him to describe the partial or potential habitat for fish, reptiles, birds, and mammals. He has much experience handling, processing and use of satellite images, both terrestrial and marine. He has taught courses in statistics and programming language R in Mexico and abroad, in research centers and government institutions. He is currently a researcher at CONACYT commissioned to CIBNOR since 2014. He joined Pelagios Kakunjá as an associate researcher in 2016.
