Carolina Hernández Navarro

Carolina has always had a great interest in health sciences, so she pursued a degree in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). There she focused all her projects on sharks, due to her passion for the ocean and its fauna. Once she finished her bachelor’s degree, she had a dream to work at a conservation organization to grow and learn more about conservation of our oceans. In 2019 she began a master’s program in Management of Marine Resources at the Centro Interdisciplinario de Ciencias Marinas (CICIMAR) and carried out her research with Pelagios Kakunjá. In 2020 Carolina finished her thesis “Diferencias de glucógeno y estrés oxidativo en músculo de Mobula birostris asociado al turismo en el Revillagigedo Archipelago”, she is happy to be one of the few veterinary doctors in Mexico specialized in elasmobranchs.
