Pelagios means “open sea" in Greek and Kakunjá means "protection" in the native Baja California Guaycura language.
We are a non-profit organization created in 2010 by two Mexican scientists

In 2017, Pelagios Kakunjá together with governing bodies helped to extend the marine reserve of the Archipelago of Revillagigedo.
