Edgar Becerril

PhD Student

Originally from Mexico City, Edgar studied Marine Biology at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur and completed his Bachelor’s thesis about white sharks with Dr. Mauricio Hoyos at Pelagios Kakunjá. He concluded his master’s thesis research focused on the behavior and ecology of sharks, analyzing the effects of the environment and the impact of ecotourism on great white sharks at Guadalupe Island. He has participated in different scientific projects on elasmobranchs in the Gulf of California and the west coast of the peninsula. Edgar is currently carrying out his PhD research at CICIMAR-IPN and Pelagios Kakunjá about reproduction of sharks in the Mexican Pacific.
